Pipin, a project from Brisbane singer/songwriter Bec Hoole, is an encapsulation of all things dreamy pop, her songs holding reminiscent flavours of disco that bring on 70’s nostalgia. Angelic vocals float in contrast over electro-pop synth lines and driving bass melodies. Named partly after a very awesome puppy and partly a children’s storybook, Pipin is an exploration of the creative spirit and a form of self-preservation amidst this crazy and wonderful world.
Pulling on heartstrings and addressing new and old emotional wounds is something this Brisbane-based indie/ folk-rock singer-songwriter, Nicole McKinney, seems to do with ease.
Sometimes referred to as sad girl music, McKinney writes music for those times when things aren’t going right, for those with a heavy heart and for those needing space away from everything.
Fomi is the musical project of Karelia Moloney, a 21-year-old multi-instrumentalist from Brisbane’s outer suburbs. One to watch, Fomi sounds like Middle Kids, Snail Mail and Alex Lahey.
